In the limelight: our rolling tube forming

Save tools, win time and still create complex forms in impressive quality. No question: in the tube processing sector it is becoming increasingly important to find solutions that ensure efficiency on continually increasing challenges – like our rolling tube forming. It uses a minimum of tools while enabling the creation of almost freely formed geometries and the execution of different processes, even on high-strength materials.

All our t form bead rolling machines have a servo-electric drive and can move the functions of different axes in an overlapping fashion using a simple control system. The forming process is possible both from outside to inside and from inside to outside. One roller head is the only necessary tool, thus almost completely ruling out tool wear. There is also no need for complex adjustments since all the setting parameters are stored. The lubricants that are necessary in the forming process can also be reduced to a minimum.

Various processes, independent of tools
The rolling technology makes it possible in principle to carry out different functions independently of tools. If very demanding forming is necessary on high-strength materials then a closed rolling head is used, in which the forming rollers are completely supported. The forming of highly compact geometries without space in the axial direction is carried out using three rollers that are included in a closed structure. This means that the roller geometry can be carried out directly on a tube/flange connection. It is also possible to roll threads or add edge designs with the same roller head and the corresponding rollers, with or without forming.

Trimming of already bent components can also be realised by rolling tube forming without cutting and almost without burrs.

Complex geometries, excellent surface quality
The rolling or separating process across two rollers is possible with a further roller head. One roller is positioned as support on the inside or outside of the tube while the counter roller delivers the form. This means that complex geometries can be formed almost without clamping lengths. This kind of inner forming or supporting roll can be used from an inner tube diameter of as little as 12 mm. Very different tool pairings then make it possible to form and separate simultaneously. Another advantage: forming creates excellent surface quality and it is usually possible to do without a cost-intensive form clamping piece on tubes that have already been bent because the loads that are transferred onto the tube during the rolling process are extremely low.

Rolling technology displays its particular strengths in the creation of perfect surfaces, sharp edged contours for sealing elements and forming axially preformed tubes. Our rolling machines can also be combined with a compression machine.
